Preparing a calendar for the grandmothers...and myself.

dark

I don't enjoy dark afternoons. I do enjoy long dark evenings. Inside that is.

superrrr

A little superhero cape I made for nephew's third birthday. Dracula meets zorro.
Cute. And black not pink ;)

one handshake away

© R.WOLS

Had a handshake with St. Nicholas! (a.k.a. Jeroen Krabbé)
Feeling all exited as a child again. I think it's fun to be a parent now and telling the story as new.
You really have to listen to this link (posted it last year on this blog as well): sooo funny!

babyroy dress

My latest dress-making for her. With a babyroy fabric of Noeks and a pattern of Knippie magazine May 1978. I had trouble with the zipper, had to re-do it three times, aaarrgggh. But it fits now and we are happy.

wish I could draw (better)

Did my best on the drawings. For a calender for her. The coming 8 weeks are full of exiting and nerve wrecking days and events in her little life. Such as Sinterklaas, birthday's, going on a holiday, Christmas, farewell kindergarten, hello school! She already asks every day, when is my birthday, when is Sinterklaas coming etc etc. Time is still such an abstract thing for her; hope this will help her relax. Starting this weekend we will put stickers on each completed day.

Pimped her doll-bed; gave it a white paint and made a thick soft mattrass. Sheets and blanket has to come yet.

Lego

He brought up his own Lego from 30 years ago to play with. Still works.

change of plans

No nature but culture this weekend.
We were on our way to the little forest-home for the weekend...when we arrived, I noticed we forgot to bring the key. Too much of a drive back and forth with a little one in the backseat. So we returned home disappointed. But today the sun was shining in the city and we went to the Elephant Parade expo. Guess what favorite elephant C discovered.... a pink one, obviously!

mission accomplished

Sewing for three days on a row...
Our new couch-blanket is going to join us this weekend when we're staying in the woods. To warm and comfort us. So happy I finished it.

autumn colors

At the swimming pool and park yesterday.

soaked

Cycling when wearing wool and leather in a heavy rainstorm is not a good idea.
I wasn't prepared obviously, while I have such nice rubber-boots in my closet.

deleted picture

This foggy picture is from around 2 years ago, inside a swimmingpool, taken with a non-acclimatized camera. Kind of like the atmosphere, David Hamilton-ish.

"the leaves are sad today, because they're falling of the trees" she said.

autumn party

At kindergarten there was a autumn party, with selfmade lanterns and fireworks.
And lots of pancakes and soup. One tired princess is sleeping now.

sweater blanket

Recycling again: asked friends for old sweaters they never wear anymore.
Got many and made a selection today. And cut for hours, I have blisters on my fingers.
In the end I'm using only six sweaters, that will make one big blanket!
Next week I will start sewing them together. Never thought it was this much work.

orange and blue

Was sewing this blue fabric that I bought at Ikea some time ago.
Made a cover for a big cushion. Looking out the window, the same colors appeared.
Love this golden phase of our tree.

shhhht it's a secret!

Ok, this one is definitely not a recycle project; it's actually brand new.
But I must say, I'm proud of the result. Never made such a 'costume'-like dress before. It's a true Cinderella/princess-dress for her, for the holiday season. Yes, I have to wait 6 weeks (!) to give it to her on Sinterklaas evening. She's playing as princess for months now and pink is really her favorite color, we hear every day several times. I gave in. Because her 4th birthday is in December as well, she can show her new look all month.
But keep quiet, it's a surprise!
Now I want to make something blue or black, my eyes hurt of magenta.

recycling no 2

This was an old housekeeping coat, found in the recycle store last week for 1 euro.
I kind of liked the fabric and had to cut around the worn and damaged bits. But got a circle skirt out of it for C.
Having no day-job at the moment makes me sewing crazy; see my next post...

leftover dress

I had an old blouse with a lovely pattern. Bought on a fleamarket years ago. But it was on my pile of non-wearing clothes. So I made a simple dress for C of it. Because she likes pink so much these days. The ribbons and heart application I had in my sewingbox, and the orange fabric was a leftover from a duvet cover project.
Nice to make something out of nothing.
